BIOGAS IN GERMANY – LEARN FROM THE BEST

(Fact finding mission to Hannover,

Germany, November 11-13, 2008)

Germany is the world leader in biogas industry development, with a wide experience. Around 3,500 plants and more than 1,000 MW have already been installed in Germany. Biogas plants use as substrates: manure, organic residues, energy crops, etc. German companies are technology leaders in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of plants.

Currently Great Britain is promoting economic incentives for energy production from biogas. Furthermore, the large farming tradition in Great Britain creates an ideal situation for the development of this technology.

The fact finding mission is directed to: farmers, managers, landowners, investors, consultants, etc.

We will offer a broad overview of the German biogas industry. Summary of the program:

-       Visits to diverse biogas plants fed by various substrates;

-       Visit to the BioEnergy 2008 exhibition in Hannover;

-       Visits to installations related to biogas: biomass drying systems (to use dried digestate as fuel for combustion, cattle bedding or fertilizer).
